BUNNELL, FL - Flagler County was recognized as 1 of 80 communities as 2016 Healthy Weight Community Champions. The recognition program highlights local government efforts to increase physical activity and improve nutrition as part of Healthiest Weight Florida.

On March 7, 2016 Robert Snyder, Administrator, Florida Department of Health recognized Flagler County with a proclamation as a Community Champion. Specifically, Snyder noted Flagler County’s care here with clinic and wellness programs, 20 plus well maintained parks, bike trails and walking paths, and EPA Brownfields Grant award that led to a community garden in Bunnell.

“In Flagler County we are constantly looking toward the future and how to make health sustainable,” said Barbara Revels, Chair, Flagler County Commission. “This Healthy Weight Community Champion Recognition is a wonderful symbol of out county’s commitment to health, and I am excited that we could achieve this award for our residents.”

The health department offers Health and Wellness programs through the Healthiest Weight Program. Efforts include a community garden in Bunnell, educational health sessions and exercise opportunities with a 5K planned in September. Contact the health department for more information.
