Daytona Beach, Fla. — Flagler and Volusia counties have completed the 2024 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), which brings to light barriers that residents face in accessing resources necessary to achieve overall health and wellness.
At the conclusion of the assessment process, which consisted of a steering committee, stakeholder meetings and interviews, a community health survey, focus groups, and the review of secondary data, the following three priority health issues were identified:
- Mental health and disorders and drug and alcohol use
- Economic stability and social and community context
- Health care access
These priority health issues will help create the new collaborative Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). The complete 2024 CHNA can be viewed on the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County’s website.
A community health assessment (CHA) identifies key health needs and issues within the community. Then, community leaders come together to develop a three-year plan to address the priority health issues identified during the CHNA process. In Flagler and Volusia counties, Florida Department of Health officials collaborate with AdventHealth, Flagler Cares, Halifax Health, SMA Healthcare, county government, and community partners to create CHAs and plans.
