Flagler County Continues Vaccine Distribution for Residents Over 65

January 19, 2021 — The Florida Department of Health in Flagler County and Flagler County Emergency Management today shared plans for continued distribution of COVID-19 vaccine to seniors ages 65 and older.

The health department received more vaccine today and will distribute doses by appointment Wednesday, January 20 and Thursday, January 21. Appointments filled quickly after the county contacted individuals on its 6,000-name call back list, as well as more than 100 people whose appointments for January 11 had been cancelled. The balance of appointments were filled 7 minutes after County sent out a text message to its FLAGLERCOVID subscribers.

According to Bob Snyder, the health department expects weekly allotments of vaccine from this point forward, meaning that new appointments will be offered to the public as vaccine is received.

“There’s tremendous demand for the COVID-19 vaccine so we are asking residents to remain patient,” he explained. “Our near-term challenge is vaccine supply. We intend to vaccinate as many people as possible as soon as possible. As we receive doses each week, the county will continue reaching out to individuals on its call back list and notifying people via text messaging when more appointments open. The call center number, 386-313-4200, is reserved for those who are over 65 without Internet or computer access.”

Once you have an appointment, you should proceed to the Flagler County Fairgrounds, 150 Sawgrass Road, Bunnell no more than 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Drivers are asked to follow the prompts provided on site and remain in their vehicles unless asked to leave them by staff.

Anyone who receives a vaccination will be given a card with the date and time to return to the Fairgrounds for their second dose 28 days later. Starting next week, those who received a first dose in early January will be contacted by the County to schedule appointments for their second dose.

COVID-19 health-related questions should be directed to a health care provider or the Florida Health hotline at 866-779-6121. Additional information can be found at floridahealthcovid19.gov/.
